Waterdrop G2 Reviews [2022]: Best Tankless Reverse Osmosis System

Billionaire Businessman and Philanthropist Manoj Bhargava once said “People with water-borne diseases occupy more than 50% of hospital beds across the world. Does the answer lie in building more hospitals? Really, what is needed is to give them healthy drinking water”. We couldn’t agree more with Manoj Bhargava.

Especially when tap water in most states is getting contaminated with germs, bacteria, and toxic heavy metals like zinc, lead, arsenic, etc. No wonder why supplied water tastes like rotten eggs. In this unfortunate situation, everyone should opt for a water filter, Don’t you think?

Well, the Waterdrop reverse osmosis water filter is what you need to keep you and your family safe from polluted water. Check out our Waterdrop G2 Reviews, one of the best tankless reverse osmosis systems.

The model number itself gives useful information about those products. So, we request you to pay attention to the model number to prevent misunderstanding.

WATERDROP WD-G2-W: The first two letters ‘WD‘ indicates the water filter is manufactured by the waterdrop company, ‘G2‘ indicates it is a water filter of the G2 series and it uses 2 composite filters to produce RO water. The last letter ‘W‘ says it is available in white color. By the way, it is also available in black.

WATERDROP WD-G2-P600-W indicates it is a water filter made by the waterdrop company under the g2 series. ‘P600‘ indicates it can supply 600 gallons (2,271.25 liters) of filtered water per day. The last letter ‘W‘ in the model number means it is available in white.

Both the water filters are designed to save space in your kitchen. We like the tankless design of G2 reverse osmosis systems. They are small but powerful. The body dimension of these products is 17.32 x 5.91 × 13.9 inches. They are lightweight, compact, and robust. Both the water filters weigh around 26 pounds (ca. 12 kg) and can be easily installed under a kitchen sink. Compared to a traditional tank Style RO water filter, waterdrop G2 will save 70% space in your Kitchen.

Although WD-G2 comes with a brushed nickel faucet, it’s not a smart faucet. Also, it would be a much more attractive deal if it had an automatic flushing system and a water leak detector sensor like its successor waterdrop G3.

1. Water Flow Rate Of Waterdrop Filters

Waterdrop has designed both the water filters to provide impressive water flow rates to their customers, and we believe they have done a marvelous job there.

With decent water pressure, Waterdrop WD-G2-W can supply 0.28 gallons (1.06 liters) of filtered water in just 1 minute. It needs only 12 seconds to fill a cup with fresh and pure water. It has the ability to provide 400 gallons (1,514.16 liters) of filtered water every day.

In terms of speed and water filtering capacity, Waterdrop WD-G2-P600-W is even more powerful than G2-W. The G2-P600-W can provide 0.46 gallons (1.74 liters) of RO water in 1 minute. Meaning, you will only have to wait 8 seconds for a cup of water. Throughout the day, Waterdrop WD-G2-P600-W can filter 600 gallons (ca. 2,271 liters) of water.

When it comes to speed, G2-P600-W is 64% more powerful than G2-W. And when it comes to the water filtering capacity, G2-P600-W is 50% more powerful than G2-W.

Both the water filters are capable of supplying more than enough freshwater to average American families. But if you have a large family we suggest you go for G2-P600-W. Due to its superior water filtering capacity, it can also be used in offices and restaurants.

2. Low Drain Ratio of G2 RO Systems

Unlike the storage tank-type reverse osmosis system, the tankless waterdrop RO system has an impressive low drain water ratio.

WD-G2 has a drain ratio of 1:1, meaning it can provide 1 liter of pure drinking water out of 2 litter unfiltered water. Due to its low water waste ratio, it is one of the most efficient RO systems.

On the other hand, WD-G2-P600 has a drain ratio of 2:1. Meaning, you will get 1 liter of pure drinking water while 2 litter will go to waste through eh drain pipe. Since WD-G2-P600 has a faster flow rate, logically its water drain ratio is slightly less impressive. Whether you want a faster RO system or an efficient RO system, it is totally up to you.

3. Composite RO Filter Used In Waterdrop Reverse Osmosis System

Composite filters are undeniably the most important of any water filter. Factors like water quality, water drain ratio, and filtration systems everything depends on the quality of the composite filter. Waterdrop takes pride to state that its filter can remove over 1000+ harmful contaminants from your drinking water. It can reduce TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) by over 90% from your drinking water.

The 2 composite filters are used by WATERDROP WD-G2-W are:

1) Carbon Block Filter, also known as CF Filter 2) MRO Filter

Carbon Block Filter: The first filter that comes into play is Carbon Block Filter Filter. It is a 2-in-1 composite filter that has 2 layers: Sediment PP membrane + Activated carbon block.

Waterdrop RO uses a catalytic carbon filtration media in this filter to filter out chloramine, normal carbon filters can not do that. Carbon filters also improve the water taste as well.

The Filter Life of this filter is 12 months or 1100 gallons (4,163.95 l). Carbon filters are fairly cheap and can be replaced in 3 seconds.

MRO Filter: it is the second filter used by G2-W. It is also a composite filter that has 3 layers in total: Sediment PP membrane + RO Membrane + Activated carbon block. The MRO filter can last for 24 months & remains effective up to 2200 gallons (8,327.91 l) of filtered water. It’s reasonably priced and costs under the hundred-bucks range.

The 2 composite filters used by WATERDROP WD-G2-P600-W are:

1) Carbon Block Filter 2) P6MRO filter

Carbon Block Filter: It is the same filter that has been used in WD-G2-W.

P6MRO Filter: The second composite filter used in G2-P600-W is P6MRO. It is an upgraded version of the MRO Filter. While the MRO filter has 3layers, this one has 4 layers. Those are: Sediment PP membrane + RO Membrane + Activated carbon block + PET pleated membrane.

The P6MRO filter also costs under the hundred-bucks range and has a filter life of 24 months. It can be used to get 3300 gallons (12,491.86 l) of filtered water.

Because of that extra filter, the P6MRO filter is more capable of water filtering than its predecessor. In that sense, WATERDROP WD-G2-P600-W will give you a higher contamination reduction rate.

4. Smart Filter Life indicator

Both the water filters of the G2 series have smart filter life indicators. The indicator keeps track of the usage of the composite filters and reminds you when it’s time to change them. The filter replacement process is a child’s play. With a twist and turn, filters can be replaced in under 30 seconds.

The indicator displays 3 different colored lights and those colored lights have different meanings.

For example, The Blue colored light means all the composite filters are working perfectly.

The Yellow-colored lite means you should replace filters in the next 15 days.

And the Red-colored light means you must replace filters immediately.

5. Waterdrop Reverse Osmosis Filtration Systems

Now that you know the basic info about filters, we believe it’s time to explain how these filters play their part in the reverse osmosis water filtration process.

You have probably noticed by now, The G2-W provides 5-stage water filtration in total whereas the G2-P600-W provides 6-stage water filtration. So again, G2-P600-W defeats WD-G2-W.

5. Waterdrop G2 installation

Installing G2 is very simple and easy. Waterdrop says any plumber can install G2 in 30 minutes. We could tell you the installation steps, but we thought it would be better to show you a detailed installation video.
