But not Waterdrop G3. Waterdrop G3 has a highly impressive 1:1 drain ratio. Meaning it is a 50% efficient RO water filter. 4) Composite Filters Used In Waterdrop G3 & Their Lifespan
Waterdrop G3, The entire system uses Three filters in total for the RO process.
The 1st filter is a Pre-sediment and carbon block filter AKA CF filter. It has 3 layers. PP cotton +Carbon Block + PP Cotton. The pore size of the CF filter is 0.8 micrometers.
The 2nd filter is a Reverse osmosis membrane filter AKA RO Filter. It also has 3 layers. The pore size of these reverse osmosis membrane layers is 0.0001 micrometer.
The 3rd filter is a Post Activated Carbon Filter AKA CB Filter. The pore size of this filter is 0.5 micrometers.
For the CF filter, filter life is 60 months or 550 months.
For the RO filter, filter life is 24 months or 2200 gallons (ca. 8,328 l).
For the CB filter, filter life is 12 months or 1000 gallons (ca. 3,785 l)
Obviously filter life depends on the water quality of your area. The more harmful contaminants present in your water the less the lifespan will be.
Changing those filters from time to time may seem like a big headache. Because in our busy life, no one has time to keep track of water-filter usage. Waterdrop Know this. Picture 1: Assume, on the smart faucet Blue colored light is on. It means all the filters are working perfectly. No action is required.
Picture 2: Assume, on the smart faucets Yellow-colored light is on. Take a look at the display monitor. You will find at least 1 (can be 2 / all 3) button on the monitor is also showing the yellow warning. In this scenario, the CF filter is marked as Yellow. It means you should replace the CF filter soon.
Picture 3: Assume, red-colored light is being displayed on the RO faucet. Take a look at the display monitor. You will find at least 1 (can be 2/ all 3) button is also showing the Red warning. Here. CF Filter is marked as Red. It means you have to change the CF filter immediately.
5) 7 Stage Filtration by Waterdrop Reverse Osmosis System
1st step: First your inlet water goes through the CF Filter. CF filter has 3 layers, Pre-sediment Filter + Carbon block + Post-sediment membrane. The membranes are made of polypropylene fiber commonly known as PP cotton. Waterdrop makes the carbon block by using superior Sri Lankan natural coconut shells. The filter preciously removes rusts, sand, chlorine, etc. 3 stages of filtration get completed in this stage.
2nd Step: In the second step, water goes through the RO membrane filter, a multi-stage (3 to be exact) composite filler. The pore size of this RO membrane filter is only 0.0001 micron. So, nothing but water can go through it. It is used to reduce TDS by 94%. It also removes heavy metals like zinc, mercury, and arsenic. Etc. Any kind of particle that is bigger than 0.0001 micron gets filtered out in this stage. Again, 3 stages of filtration get completed in this stage.
3rd Step: In this step water goes through the CB filter, a post-activated carbon block filter.
After the final filtration system (7 in total) the water quality gets absolutely pure, tasty, and healthy.
